Amis dance troupe
Tony Coolidge with a young Amis dance troupe.

We enjoyed the hospitality of an Amis Hotel and tourist attraction on the coastal highway just outside of Rei-Swei, south of Hualien. They treated us to a huge feast and then gave us a tour of their grounds. They had just finished renovation and we were one of the first tourists to see the site.

A newly-formed dance troupe was practicing. They were formed by local orphaned children. We were treated to a performance and were blessed to be the first guests to watch them perform. You could see that they were still new at the routine because they were still a little shy about holding each other's hands. They were nervous, but their performance was still a joy to watch.
