A photo of an Atayal teenage girl.
This was a photo on display at the Museum of Native Culture in Taichung. It displays an Atayal teenage girl from the 1930's.
The girl shown is probably about 16 years old. Atayal women generally received their facial tattoos to signify their marriagability. They had to earn this right by displaying skills in cooking, textile making and weaving.
