When we visited the Taiwanese Public Television Service Foundation, Ms. Swen brought in a special guest for us to meet. She told us that their station has special programming and news for the indigenous issues of Taiwan. She introduced us to Mr. I-Chia Tseng (Indigenous name: Masau A-Chi), who was the news anchor for the indigenous news magazine show.
We let him know that he was a rolemodel for other indigenous people because of his high profile, and because his talents were not related to singing, dancing and sports. His profession breaks the mold for the stereotypes given to indigenous people in Taiwan. I let him know that his story may be one we were interested in highlighting in the future.
